About Joanna Lepiarczyk
Founder of Horses Explained | Equine Behaviour Specialist | Classical Riding Coach | Author of Understanding Horse Depression

I've spent my life in the company of horses—raised on a family-run riding facility and in the saddle since I was old enough to walk. Since 1998, I've been training, competing, teaching, and most importantly, listening—to what horses are truly telling us.
Today, I specialize in equine behaviour, classical schooling, and emotional wellness. As a certified coach in both Poland and Canada, my work bridges science and intuition, tradition and innovation. My goal? To help thoughtful riders and owners build real partnerships with their horses—based on clarity, respect, and mutual understanding.
I’m known for working with horses who don’t fit the mold—sensitive horses, complex horses, misunderstood horses. The ones who need a training plan grounded in patience, not pressure. I use a structured, compassionate approach informed by the SET® model (Safety, Experience, Training) and grounded in both behavioural science and classical principles.
